. . . Thanksgiving Candles and Halloween Art . . .

I love getting packages in the mail so when this box of goodies showed up on my doorstep it was like Christmas morning for me!  The box was filled with all kinds of treats from David Tutera's new line of Card Making Supplies called Celebrate and they are available now at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts.  David Tutera is the host of My Fair Wedding and now offers this fantastic paper craft line that you will love.  I'm pretty sure you will want to run to JoAnn's and grab some of these supplies because he has really done a great job making crafting and card making simple.

I decided to dress up a couple very boring candles that I had sitting around and figured that this set of card making supplies was the perfect spot to gather my embellishments to make those candles not so boring.  It took me minutes to add a few touches to the candles and now they don't look so bland.  I love them and this set of card making supplies.

Look at all these goodies that are part of David Tutera Celebrate!  I love how the cards and steps are all numbered to really make card making a simple task!

 I wanted to fancy up some boring candles so I grabbed the supplies from the David Tutera Celebrate set and went to work.  I used the adhesive that came with the set and layered two paper borders together to give a little dimension

 I then took those paper layers and attached them directly to my candle with glue dots.  I then used one of the stickers that came with the set and added that to the front center of my candle.  I then used some of the string that came with the set and wrapped my candle holder with it for a little something "extra" and those couple quick steps really made for a great update to my boring beige candle.

 For the second candle I did the same layers for the candle wrap and then I used one of the great cards that had a punch out and used the center oval piece from it.  I used the sanding block that came with the set and really roughed up my red tag then added another layer and then used a sticker from the set that says "Happy Thanksgiving".  I attached all of this directly to the candle and then used two buttons from the set to add a little more dimension.  Tada! 

 The David Tutera Celebrate set made this one of the easiest and quickest crafts I've done in a long time!  It was so easy and turned out so great!

 I also used the kit to create this fun birthday card.  It took me about 2 minutes to finish it but it looks like I spent a lot of time on it.  Love!

 I also made a cute Halloween Canvas using elements from David Tutera's Celebrate Card Making Line.  This was super easy and turned out so cute too!  

 I gathered a few of the cards and tags that came in my goody box and then used some Halloween stickers and washi tape I had around the house to create this super simple and super cute Halloween art.  It's all about just layering the paper and then putting the finished cards on the canvas.  I then framed the cards out with washi tape.  Super simple!

. . . Washi Tape Candles . . .

 Washi Tape is one of my absolute favorite things to have in my crafting stash.  There are so many amazing colors and styles available and it always makes a package a little bit cuter.  I ship every Itsy Bitsy Paper order with a label and a piece or two of Washi Tape on the envelope and it adds a nice pop of color.

I always buy my Washi Tape from Etsy or Happy Tape but recently I was cruising the Target Office Supply section and what should appear?  WASHI TAPE!!  You can’t believe how fast all three color combos went into my cart!

I have recently completed several cute Washi Tape projects so I figured I would dedicate a week to Washi Tape.  These are all created by tape from Target and my Washi Tape already in my craft collection.

• • • Washi Tape Candles
 
This is one of the sets I picked up at Target.  They are in the Office Supply Aisle and they have quite a few options and plenty of other great products that compliment these designs-paperclips, rubber bands, etc.

 I know these are basically self explanatory but I'll tell you what I did...Grabbed a couple mismatched and old candles and just wrapped my tape around them until I covered the entire candle.

I then took my CutterBee Scissors to trim the excess tape that 
was at the very top of the candle.

• • • Easy peasy

***PLEASE USE AS DECORATION ONLY!  I don't want anyone telling me their washi tape candles caught on fire--that would be awful.  If you want them to be used as an actual burning candle then PLEASE use the battery operated candles.

. . . Ribbon Makes It Better . . .

Don't you think ribbon makes everything look better?  I know I do!  I have tons of ribbon around my house for any occasion that I need to dress something up a bit. 
Today I was working on decorating my house for Spring and Easter and decided this candle holder works for my every day decor but not very festive for spring.  I decided it needed a little embellishment of ribbon and ric rac.

This is my "trick" to dressing up my candles and candle holders all year round.  I use a little double sided tape on the back side where no one will see and it instantly makes a "dressy" candle or holder.

 Just cut the ribbon to the size you need and then adhere it to the back side of your candle or candle holder with a little bit of double sided tape and you are good to go! No glue to ruin your candles or holders!  When the season is over just unstick them and add new colors to dress them back up.

. . . Dusting Candles . . .

I have candles all around my house but when they get dusty it's so hard to get the dust off of them so they look new again.  My mom taught me to use old pairs of hose.  Now I save my hosiery that have runs in them so I can get my dusty candles looking new again. 

Just ball up the piece of hosiery and rub it all around your candle until you get the dust bunnies off.  I wanted to show pictures of this little trick but I'm not sure you will be able to tell how clean the candles get so hopefully you will take my word for it and give it a try.  Sometimes mom does know what she is talking about.

 You will love this little trick!

Ball up your piece of hosiery and start rubbing in circles all around your candle until the sheen starts coming back and the dust goes away.

. . . T-Shirt Wrapped Candle Holders . . .

I am always looking for a very quick and simple craft project that can dress something up that I have laying around the house.  I don't know if you remember the T-Shirt Rope Scarf I posted about but I made a ton of them and have quite a variety of colors.  I went to put one on and thought about all the Pins I have seen with glass jars covered in sweaters and I thought why not use some of these "rope" scarves and wrap a jar for a candle.

Now, this was supposed to be a quick and easy little project but after three broken glass vases I was ready to pull every last piece of hair out.  It was as if my hands were made of jello because I kept dropping the glass vases.  Crazy!  I finally got two done and figured why push my luck for any more.  

I just took the pieces of t-shirt "rope" and started at the bottom of the vase and wrapped them around and around until it was nice and tight.  Then I added the next color and then the next.  I wanted these to be something I could use again so I just added some Valentine Garland around it and that way it is a temporary holiday vase.

I hope you enjoy making your own and maybe have better luck than I did with keeping the glass in one piece.

 Just take your infinity "rope" scarf and start wrapping them around the jars.  I did it like you would wrap a rubberband around something--kind of a figure eight wrap.  

 Display them with a few pieces of Valentine's Day Garland
