. . . Brownie Bites Failed . . .

I hate it when something I make turns out to be a disaster--luckily it's not too often or I would have given up my love of baking and cooking long ago.

A couple weeks ago my mom gave me a silicone brownie bite pan.  I was so excited to use it and knew my son would love them because of how much he likes the brownie bites from Costco.

I made them yesterday and it was a disaster.  I wouldn't recommend one of these great pans.  I guess there was a reason she found it on sale for $4.96.  I followed the directions on the packaging of the brownie bite pan but when the brownies were baked they wouldn't come out of the pan like the packaging said they would.  I let them cool longer and that still didn't help so basically I ended up having to dig them out with a spoon but boy did they taste GOOD!  My husband and son thought the brownie crumbles were the best thing because they are perfect for adding to ice cream so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Want to see pics?  Here you go...

It all started out perfectly...

I made half just chocolate fudge and the other half peanut butter swirl

This was my first sign that it had gone downhill.
They weren't baking evenly so it was leaving the edges hard and the centers underdone.

This was after trying to get them out the way the instructions said--"invert pan and brownies will fall right out"
Things that make you go hmmm?

They certainly aren't pretty but boy were they gooey and moist!

I won't be winning any great compliments for these beauties.

Do you love peanut butter swirl brownies?  I love them-especially with crunchy peanut butter.  I buy a fudge brownie mix and then mix up my own peanut butter sauce.  To make the sauce you just put a scoop of peanut butter in a bowl or large measuring cup then add a little bit of vegetable oil to thin it down (it doesn't take much oil).  Stir it up and you have a perfect sauce to swirl into your fudge brownie mix.

After the oil has thinned it down add spoonfuls to your batter that is poured into your pan.  Swirl it around with a knife--don't over swirl or it will just blend right in and not look as pretty.  You can do this with regular or crunchy peanut butter.  Yummy!
