Front Porch

Yesterday I posted on Facebook that I was excited that I finally found a few minutes to decorate for fall.  My son and I visited the pumpkin patch and picked up some wheat straw and pumpkins and stopped to get an arragement of mums to put out so the trick or treaters didn't have to walk up to a bare front porch.

Fun Friday Finds

WHITE PUMPKINS...L♥VE.  You can imagine my disappointment yesterday when I was at the pumpkin patch and every white pumpkin was moldy.  I really wanted to have some in my fall arrangement on my porch but no luck thus far finding any good ones.  That lead me to put this Fun Friday Find together so I could live vicariously through others that got the opportunity to decorate with them.  Beautiful ideas!

The South's Best Sweet Pototo Pie

My grandmother has been a follower of Southern Living Magazine for YEARS.  I am always lucky enough to have the magazine passed along to me and I love to read the articles and the recipes.  Yesterday my grandmother invited us over for a yummy desert that came from the magazine.  It is called The South's Best Sweet Potato Pie with Marshmallow Meringue.  I think it may be one that we have to make again.  I think it is a bit better after being refridgerated and be prepared for the meringue to slip and slide.

9th Wedding Anniversary

Nine years ago today my husband and I were married.  I had always dreamed of having an outdoor wedding in the fall with lots of leaves, flowers and candles.  Well, wouldn't you know that October 27th that year was one of the coldest days of the month and we thought we would have to move it inside but my husband insisted we do it outside because it's what I had always wanted.  Even though we froze it was so worth it!

This is what I woke up to this morning with a note that said "Dinner Plans at 6:00":
And this is what was left on my drivers seat of my car:
Not a bad way to begin my day!

Soy Poetry Giveaway

I L♥VE candles...to the point of obsession with them.  I also love a soy candle.  For some reason they just seem to be more "smelly".  I follow Michelle Underwood's Blog called This Crazy Life and she is doing a great giveaway!  RUN don't WALK over to her Blog and enter for your chance to win a beautiful candle from Soy Poetry.  Soy Poetry recycles old glassware and makes them into soy candles.  They have some yummy scents.

Halloween Treat

We have been busy making Halloween Treats for my sons class and the teachers.  We made Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods and Candy Corn Bark.  The teachers and principals are getting a bag of Candy Corn Bark--both white and milk chocolate bark.  The kids will have the pretzel rods decorated with Halloween sprinkles.
What are you making for special treats?  I would love to hear!

Dunkin Donuts Coffee

Everyday I start my morning with Dunkin Donuts Coffee that I brew in my coffee maker.  I have tried many different coffees but I am 100% partial to Dunkin Coffee.  You can imagine my excitement when I was walking through a store and saw the Dunkin Donutes display of 3 flavored coffees.  I chose the Mocha Mint flavor and it is yummy!  They also have Pumpkin Spice and Vanilla Nut.  I would recommend them for both iced coffee and hot coffee.

ENJOY!

TOMS

I just got a pair of Red TOMS.  If you don't already own a pair of TOMS you should look into them.  Not only are they very comfortable but they serve a great cause.  For every pair you purchase they donate a pair of shoes to a child in need.  You can't beat that!

French Onion Soup

Today is a rainy and cool day here in North Carolina so it's the perfect day for soup.  I am making my favorite French Onion Soup today and it is smelling so good!

French Onion Soup Recipe

4 Tablespoons Butter
2 Tablespoons Flour
6 Onions chopped
8 Cups Beef Broth
1 Cup White Wine
Swiss Cheese
French Bread

Melt butter in large saucepan and add flour.  Then slice up onion and drop them in pan and saute them over medium heat until lightly browned and softened.  Add beef broth and white wine, cover and let the soup simmer all day.

When you are ready to serve the soup put it in soup crocks and then top with a chunk of french bread and top with sliced cheese.  Bake in oven on 350 until cheese is bubbly and brown.  Serve and enjoy!

**I improvise this recipe to taste.  I usually add some garlic and salt and pepper as well.

Boys Diaper Cake

Last week I was busy working on fulfilling an order for a Diaper Cake for an expectant mom having a baby boy.  My customer was taking it as a baby shower gift and I wanted to share now that the gift has been given and was a huge hit.  These cakes are super easy to make but time consuming and you really need an extra set of hands to make it less difficult.

Pink Danskos

I am in love with PINK, really it's an obsession with the color.  It just makes me smile and feel girly.  I also love Dansko Clogs and so when I saw these beauties at Nordstrom I knew they had to be mine!
What is your shoe of choice?  I would love to hear!

Yellow and Blue Treasury

Here is a fun Yellow and Blue Treasury on Etsy.  I am in ♥ with the Titanium Band with the Blue accents.

Fun Friday Finds

Today, Friday Finds is about {WREATHS}.  I love a good wreath and think it has a way of transforming your space.  It is also so much fun to see unique wreaths.  I think just about anything can be made into a wreath, don't you?  I hate it when I don't have a wreath for my front door because it just looks so "naked".
I hope some of these will inspire you to create or at least decorate.
