. . . Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats . . .

Does anyone really not like Rice Krispie Treats?  I know in our house they go pretty quickly (except when they turn out rock hard and you run the risk of breaking your teeth biting into them).  I wanted to surprise my son with a special treat the other day and picked up some of the Strawberry marshmallows and a box of Rice Krispies and some cute sprinkles from the dollar bins at Target.  The easiest little treat ever but so cute, don't you think?

I have an idea of what I plan to do for my son's classmates for Valentine's Day but honestly these were so darn easy and cute that I'm seriously considering making these instead.  Hmmm, what to do...

Recipe:
1 Bag of Strawberry Marshmallows
6 Cups of Rice Krispies
4 Tablespoons of Butter
Sprinkles (I just dumped until I got the desired look I was going for)
Melt the butter in a large saucepan then add your mashmallows and stir constantly over low heat until they melt completely.  Then add your Rice Kripies and combine well and then the sprinkles and mix well.  Place in a greased 9x13 pan and press firmly with greased hands.  Use a heart shaped cookie cutter that has been coated with cooking spray and start pressing out your hearts and move to a parchment paper lined baking sheet to let cool completely.  For the excess Rice Krispie Treats I repressed them into the pan and cut them out so I didn't waste any.  As long as you are doing this while they are pretty warm you shouldn't have any trouble.

Once the treats are cooled place in a cellophone bag and tie with ribbon or Baker's Twine and give as treats OR just enjoy them!

 • Gather your ingredients
• Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat
• Once butter has melted stir in the mashmallows and mix well until they are completely melted
• Add your cereal to the melted mixture and stir well

 • Add in the desired amount of sprinkles and mix them into the cereal and marshmallow mixture.  Adding more sprinkles as you go if you need them.
• Press the treats into a greased 9x13 inch pan
• Use a heart shaped cookie cutter that has been coated with cooking spray to cut out your treats.
• Move the cut out treats to a parchment paper lined baking sheet and let cool completely

 • Once the treats have cooled bag them in a cute cellophane bag and give as treats or just put them on a platter and watch them disappear!

So cute!

Happy Valentine's Day!

  4. Thank you for posting this! I just bought the ingredients to make Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats with my toddler next week, and these look awesome. Random question (and most likely a dumb one, so be prepared)... do the strawberry marshmallows add a strawberry flavor or just a pinkish color? Not that it matters either way. We're big fans of strawberry here. Just curious! :)
