You can't get a project
that is much easier than this one! All
you need is a pack of cheap plastic magnetic letters and numbers (I think every mom has purchased these at one time or another) and a can of
spray paint and you have an amazing transformation. Wouldn't this be a fun Back to School Teacher
Gift?
I got my packs of letters
and numbers in the toy aisle at Wal Mart and then grabbed a can of their cheapest gray spray
paint to use as a primer and got the Krylon Fusion Hammered Finish in Silver to
create a Stainless Steel look. These
were so easy to do and turned out great!
• • •
• Gather your paint and plastic letters/numbers
• You could use any spray paint your heart desires but I wanted these to have a "metal" look to them so I went with a Hammered Finish
• Lay out your letters on a surface that is safe for spray painting.
• Use the primer paint and do a layer on both the front and the back of your letters. I didn't photograph the backside but it's worth doing it.
• Once the primer has dried you will use the Krylon Hammered Finish spray paint to coat both the fronts and the backs of the letters.
• Once they are dry you will have your Faux Magnetic Metal Letters
These are great for sticking on any magnetic surface.
Have lots of fun with them!
• • • Fun!
• • • Faux Metal!

I like those so much better than the primary color letters my kids grew up with.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am on my way to go shopping and think I will pick up some magnetic letters. My refrigerator is seriously lacking and I'm thinking fall theme letters that will spell out my children's names.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial, thanks for posting :-]
