Who doesn't love monograms? I can't think of too many people. I am always seeing really unique ways to create monograms so I thought I'd gather a few great ideas here and share them on Fun Friday Finds.

I have a question. Since you're all about monograms today. My question is, when making someone a gift with their monogram do you typically use the initial from the first or last name. I am going to make a card set for a friend with their monogram. Thanks for your help with this.

I used to be a wedding specialist so I had to learn a lot about monograms for that job and here is the proper etiquette rule:
ReplyDeleteWhen the item is a casual item use the first name initial. If the item is a more formal item use the last name initial. If it is for a couple then use the last initial in any situation.
If it is a three letter monogram that is all the same size the rule is to do the letters as First Name, Middle Name and Last Name
If the monogram is a three letter monogram with the larger center initial it goes First Name, Last Name, Middle Name
If it is for a couple and it's the three letter monogram with the center initial larger it is Woman's Name, Last Name, Man's Name.
I am so obsessed with monograms that I'm afraid if I don't restain myself our home would become one BIG alphabet musuem! Thanks for featuring my tile "B" art!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feature, Lindy! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring my giant M!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for featuring my stenciled initial canvases! Appreciate it! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous! I have wanted to do one of these for a while. I saw a girl who had made a pom pom one by wraping wool around a template and cuttingit out to get that look.
ReplyDeleteI really must try it!
