I love all the fun things you can create with yarn and I have quite a bit of neat yarn leftover from odds and ends of knitting projects. I wanted to create something fun and springy and decided I would create Yarn Trees. I also thought of making them into topiaries but loved how they turned out so I just left them as is. Everytime I look at them they make me smile with their bright colors and fun look.
1. Start out with your styrofoam cone forms--I used three different sizes
2. Use "T" Pins to stick your yarn into the top of the form and then you will use these again at the bottom
3. Choose your yarns to create the color scheme you need. I chose about 6 different yarns for each cone. I wanted to keep similar colors for all three but have each one have a color that stood out a little more. I used more yellow in one, more purple in another and more pink and orange in the third.
4. Once you have your yarn pinned into the top just start wrapping the yarn around the cone form tightly. I sort of scrunched mine up so it was nice and full. I loved having several strands of "Hairy" yarn so it gave it alot of texture.
5. Keep Wrapping tightly towards the bottom of your form.
6. As you can see it's just alot of wrapping and that is about it
7. Get to the bottom of your form and wrap your strands of yarn around another "T" pin and stick it into the cone form so your yarn is nice and tight so it won't unravel.
8. Aren't they fun!?
9. Add them to your spring decor and sit back and smile at all the compliments you will get.
